Here’s The Workflow Process:
Base substrate is a 90 lb. cold press textured watercolor paper.
Gold leaf sheets are then applied by hand with a brush using a PVA sizing product. The brush strokes are apparent through the gold leaf which adds a painterly quality to the finished work.
Two coats of inkAID Clear Gloss Type II Coating are then applied using a brush.
Printed on an Epson SC-P800 printer using the “Poster Board” setting.
After drying one spray coating of Golden MSA gloss varnish is applied before mounting on a wood panel with 3M Scotch 568 Positionable Mounting Adhesive (PMA).
Mounted pieces are then finished with two coats of Golden MSA varnish, cut 3:1 with Golden MSA Solvent, waiting 48 hours between coats. Curing takes a while but the varnish self-levels nicely and provides a hard, and very glossy, UV Protective finish.
